MORE THAN A CARTOON

The cartoon that appears on the cover of this issue is far more than a mere cartoon.  It represents a mindset, a culture, a way of life that is steeped in cruelty and savagery and blood.

It is a cartoon that appeared in a major Jordanian newspaper (Al Rei, August 8, 1990) following the brutal murder of two youngsters in Jerusalem by Arabs who stabbed them tens of times and mutilated their bodies.  The cartoon, which glorifies the deed, shows the two in the form of long-nosed, Star-of-David-hatted Jews impaled on a bloody scimitar that makes up part of the Arab name of Jerusalem, Al Kuds.

It is more than a cartoon.  It is the graphic and naked face of Ishmael, of the Arab mentality and mindset, of an Islam-Araby that is at total odds with the moral values of a civilization grounded in the Divine seven commandments of the children of Noah.  How easy, how obscene, for the liberal-left and humanist twisters of morality to sit in the shadow of Lincoln Center or the Golden Gate or Beverly Hills or Harvard Square or the salons of elitism and discourse on a world they know nothing about.  How gratifying to comfortably discourse on a world they know nothing about. How gratifying to comfortably babble about ethics and morality and humanism when it is so safe (so very safe) a theory, and when it is the other person who is called upon to be “moral.”

How satisfying to the parlor-café liberal to bandy about the phrases we all so love to rail against: “racism,” “intolerance,” ad nauseum.  The cartoon is the reality, the liberal humanists are the caricature, living in their own plastic, egotistical world.  Unwilling to make real sacrifices of money and body, they pay instead a huge lip tax to “humanism” and “morality.”

The reality lies well without them. It exists in the fresh graves of two young Jews of Jerusalem brutally and terribly murdered by a people that glorifies the act with a cartoon of blood.  One thinks back just a few years ago to the steps of a Cairo government building, where lay the Foreign Minister of the very same Jordan.  He had just been shot by a “Palestinian,” another cultural product of Islam-Araby.  The “Palestinian,” having shot him, now proceeded to drink his blood.

Spare us your morality and your indignation both.  Those of us who are normal and Jewish, truly Jewish, know exactly how to deal with the cartoonists of blood.  Because we have no intention of being the subject of any others.

MASQUERADE OF FEAR

See them walking about in their expensively cut suits and expensively cut hair and very expensive masks of aristocratic self-confidence.  They are the bankers of the West and the masks of unconcern are a masquerade for the deep fear they feel concerning a banking system slowly but surely collapsing and taking with it a western economy and social stability.  The decision by Brazil to suspend interest payments on a staggering $68 billion of commercial bank debt (its total foreign debt is even more stupendous, more than $108 billion) means that the world debt crisis which threatens a world depression that would dwarf the one of the ‘30s, has entered a new and more dangerous stage.

A long list of so-called Third World countries, hopelessly in debt, exists – with no conceivable possibility of the States every paying off the principal.  Banks and bankers in the west who greedily – like some financial drug pusher – urged every underdeveloped (and developing country for that matter) to borrow, borrow and borrow (very much like their rapacious policy of credit card brainwashing in their own lands), are now faced with paying the Piper.  The horrible thought that borrowing states will simply cancel the debts they owe is so frightening, that the banks have quietly allowed a score of such states to simply at least pay the interest regularly.

But even that proved to be excruciatingly difficult for under-developed and developing states who borrowed so often on the delusion that their economic prosperity of a decade ago would forever blossom. Of course, the dream has turned into a nightmare as world oil and commodity prices have tumbled crazily, leaving not only prosperity behind, but something far more dangerous, punctured expectations.

Few countries were wishfully thought to have the nerve to simply tell the bankers, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund that they simply could not meet any debt payments, principal or interest, and that, furthermore, they were not prepared to risk social upheaval, not to mention political defeat at the polls.  Each debtor state was, indeed, anxious for one of the others to be the first to do so, for there are many candidates for the second, third and other places.  Now Brazil has done it, and beneath the masks of complacency, the bankers are asking: Can others be far behind?

Surely not.  Mexico, a country with a list of ills that would stage an economic social physician, itself has a nearly $100 billion foreign debt – as well as one of the fastest growing populations in the world.  There are not enough jobs; there is not enough hope.  It is only the most likely candidate of half-a-dozen Latin American states to be the next to jolt the banking world.  Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, as well as a host of Asian and African states (the Philippines, for example, with an impossible debt of $28 billion) are all preparing to shake the banks with suspension of payments.

The world banking system is on the verge of collapse and all the masquerade and charade of calming statements will help no one.  The world is rushing towards economic holocaust and the social fabric will explode in a deafening explosion of violence and extremism, the direct result of a four-decade era of prosperity and rising, ever-rising, unlimited expectations.  The poor are rarely disappointed.  It is those who once tasted the sweetness of economic progress who will never agree to quietly return to their misery.

Of course, this is all part of the inexorable Divine process of measure for measure, the material destruction of a world that left G-d for materialism.  The arrogance and absolute certainty of men as they prospered and advanced through their own prowess and intellect.  The crowning of Man, the King, as sovereign of the universe.  The plunge into the unbridled sea of Pleasure and unharnesed desire with not a thought for Divine purpose and raison d’etre.  These are the ingredients of a universe that buried G-d as a meaningful factor in the world – and personal – affairs.

The carnival has started in Rio.  The song of the economic Samba can be heard.  But it is a carnival of economic destruction and a dance of social explosion and the masquerade and masks of laughter and unconcern, mask only the fearful reality of terrible days before the final days.

IS IT GOOD FOR THE JEWS

 

For decades, large numbers of American Jews and the vast majority of their leadership have been practicing the art of national suicide.  Faced with the loss of an elementary understanding that is possessed by even the most backward and primitive of people – that vital issues should be judged on the basis of national self-interest – Jews have consistently vowed fealty to ‘objectivity’, regularly placed liberal or “humanitarian” concepts over Jewish ones and worked tirelessly to destroy themselves.

Any normal people realize that groups base decisions upon self-interest.  Any normal people realizes that democracy is a conglomerate of pressure and self-interest groups with farmers, consumers, unions, Catholics, Blacks and all kinds of lobbyists constantly striving to assure that their interests be served.  Apparently, the Exile has so warped and terrified certain Jews that they strive to escape their Jewishness and the persecution that accrues from it, by becoming citizens of the world and “humans,” thus gaining love and safety from anti-Semitism. 

It is insecurity, fear and drive to assimilate that lead certain Jews to back causes that are blatantly anti-Jewish.  Thus, some Jews become Marxists in face of the fact that Marxism means the elimination of Jews both as a religion and nation.  Certain Jews become “humanists” despite – or because of – the subsequent blurring of all division between Jew and non-Jew. Others, retain their Jewishness, but insist upon being liberals before Jews and think a liberal world guarantees safety for the Jew.  All these groups have been proven wrong a thousand times over and the fact remains that the Jew can new never purchase his safety, security and peace at the expense of his own identity, specifically separate existence.  The one way to assure that identity and the survival of the Jew as a separate entity, is through Jewish self-interest.

Progress for Blacks does NOT, as we have been assured, necessarily guarantee Jewish progress.  Liberal support for downtrodden people in no way necessarily assures Jewish survival.  Being a liberal is not always synonymous with Jewish interests (and the same holds true for being a conservative).

It is vital for the Jew – if he wishes to survive – to understand a number of basic axioms:

1.      Unless the Jew aids himself there is no one else who will come to his rescue in time of great and critical need.  The fact is so historically true that it is inexplicable that it is not self-obvious.

2.      Jews, in order to survive, must continually gird their resources and strength for Jewish causes and aims since no one else will.

3.      In assessing every issue and politician the Jew should always use the yardstick: Is it good for the Jews?

This latter point may distress a great many liberal Jews.  It will surely not upset militant blacks who work along this principle for their own people continually and who understand the extent of white hostility and the need for Black power for Black interests.  Indeed, the growing awareness of self within the ranks of ethnics all over the country gives the lie to the absurd myth of the Melting Pot.  No one merits: in the end ethnic and religious ties – inward national pulls – are far more powerful than international and supranational movements.  It is little wonder that after 50 years of Soviet rule, Ukrainians and other groups retain and strengthen their own identity and the Great Russians retain their strangle hold on the Soviet Establishment.  It is not surprising that 27 years of Tito can do nothing about the rise of Serbian-Croat rivalry and the Communist Albania and Yugoslavia have an Albanian ethnic problem.

No one melts except frightened people who attempt to.  In the end they either dissolve completely or are rejected by the host body.  The solution to survival and respect in this world is not to attempt to lose oneself but to fine; not to escape from but to return to the source of one’s beginnings.  One who does not know from whence he came will never know where he is going.  Some day we may build a better world but it will never come until each of us regains his own separate identity and self-respect.  Only with that self-respect can we respect others and only when others respect us will they truly accept our hand in friendship
