CHUKIM: TO WHAT END???

CHUKIM: TO WHAT END???
The Torah declares concerning the Red Heifer, "This is the chok of the Torah" (Numbers 19:2). Rashi comments: "Since Satan and the nations ridicule Israel, saying, 'What is this commandment and what is its rationale?' the Torah uses the word 'chok,' as if to say, 'It is a divine decree and you have no license to question it.'"
Truthfully, however, why DID G-d give us chukim which Satan and the nations would be able to ridicule for being irrational? The answer is that the chukim are certainly rational, but the Torah leaves us in the dark so that they operate solely as decrees, serving as prototypes for all the other commandments. They inform us that we must relate to all mitzvot as decrees - we must do them simply because G-d said so - even if the reason for some of them are relatively straightforward. The Sifra (as quoted by Rashi to Kedoshim 20:26) states:
"How do we know that a man should not say, 'I cannot abide pork, I cannot bear to wear a garment of Shaatnez,' but should rather say, 'I can eat the pork and wear the garment, but what can I do if my Father in Heaven has decreed otherwise?' It is said (Leviticus 20:26), 'And I have separated you from the nations that you should be Mine' - that you should be separated from them for My Name's sake and accept the yoke of heaven."
Doing the mitzvot out of submission to G-d brings merit to the Jewish people. As the Rabbis said: "The Torah states, 'Only be steadfast in not eating the blood, for the blood is the life' (Deuteronomy 12:23). If we are awarded for abstaining from blood, something which man finds disgusting, then how much more so will we bring merit to ourselves, our children, and all our descendants until the end of time if we abstain from thievery or illicit relations, things which man craves and desires" (Makkot 23b).
Even without G-d's commands, there are many mitzvot a person would fulfill anyway, either because they are loathsome (e.g., consuming blood) or because they are moral and beneficial (e.g., honoring one's parents). If, however, he fulfills them not because they are divine commands but because they seem logical, he does NOT achieve the holiness one attains as a result of breaking one's lust, arrogance, and ego. Only when a person does a mitzvah because he is COMMANDED can he ascend spiritually.
G-d therefore COMMANDED us not to consume blood, transforming an instinctive act into a holy means of quashing the ego. This is the intent of R. Chanania ben Akashia's comment that "G-d wished to bring Israel merit (l'zakot); He therefore provided them with much Torah and mitzvot" (ibid.). The word "l'zakot" connotes not only merit (zechut), but purity (zach). G-d wished to purify His people and refine them of the dross of egotism. He wished to purge their egos and place fetters on the bestial will and pride of man. He therefore gave us the mitzvot. When man performs all his deeds exclusively in accordance with the command of G-d, he becomes purified and ascends spiritually, which is the purpose of life.
The Rabbis said: "Does G-d care whether a person chooses a kosher animal or a non-kosher one; whether he slaughters it properly before consuming it or not? Does it help G-d? Does it harm Him? [No, rather the] mtizvot were given to refine Israel and mankind" (Tanchuma, Shemini 8).

A STATE OF CONFUSION! 1988

 “K A H A N E”

The magazine of the authentic Jewish Idea

July-August 1988      Tamuz – Menachem Av 5748

Forty Years Of the Jewish State

A State Of Confusion (excerpts)
[1988 and 2020 same problem with Liberal Jews]

Rami Huri, and Israeli Arab who is a member of the city council of the northern Israeli city, Acre, announced on the eve of Independence Day, that he would refuse to participate in the torch-lighting ceremony, celebrating Israel’s 40th anniversary.  His reason?  The official invitation spoke of  “40 years since Acre’s liberation.”

Just two months, earlier, at an Acre City Council meeting, Israeli Arabs refused to rise to sing the Ha’Tikva, the national anthem of the Jewish state, “liberated” by the Jews.  Two clear political statements by the Arabs of the Jewish state called Israel.

On the other hand, there was the Jewish citizen of Israel named Reggie Peralson.

The Independence Day issue of the Palestine (a.k.a. Jerusalem) Post ran a story about a kibbutz and an Arab Beduin village in the Upper Galilee.  Clearly, the purpose was to show the fraternal ties that bind Arab and Jew in the state of schizophrenia.  The kibbutz is Kfar Hanasi, founded in 1948 by some 100 Jews, mostly from Britain (a point to consider carefully in analyzing what I am about to write).  The village is Tuba, and its 5,000 residents are quite aware that they live in a Jewish state, with all that that implies.  Not so the Jewish heirs of Rudyard Kipling who manfully carry the “Jew-man’s burden of dispensing civilization to the native along with massive doses of condescension.  Thus, Reggie Peralson, a female kibbutznik from Kfar Hanasi, eagerly tells the Post reporter that she makes it a point to visit Tuba “at least twice a month”, and attends Arabic classes given by a Tuba resident, Mohammed Abu-Yussuf.  And thus speaks a daughter of benevolent Jewish imperialism:

“I feel a real need for contact.  I think every Israeli Jewish family should “adopt” an Israeli Arab family to help coexistence.  I just like the Beduin.  I love sitting on their mattresses, drinking their coffee and eating their labane.”  Spoken as a true Victorian!  How they loved little children and little natives… And how the natives – and Arabs – love the Jewish Kiplings of our time…

The difference between the clear-thinking and rational Arab and the muddled, confused Jewess is a mirror of the reality of Israel, at 40.  The Arab firmly believes that he is a “Palestinian”, and that the country was taken from the “Palestinian” majority by the Zionists.  He understands fully that the issue in Israel is not “co-existence” or the disgusting condescension on the part of British-born (or any other kind of Jews, that sees them gushing over the quaint natives and their mattresses and labane.)  He knows that the issue is Jewish sovereignty in a Jewish state that must, by its very nature, make the Arab – at best – a second-class citizen.  He knows that the issue is whether the law of return of Israel which limits the privilege of automatic immigration and Israeli citizenship to JEWS, will remain as is and thus continue to symbolize the JEWISHNESS and ZIONIST character of the state.  He knows the issue is whether Jews will ever agree to the Arab right to peacefully and non-violently become a majority which can then control and direct the state as they see fit.  He knows that “coexistence” and “tolerance” and “love” are frantic liberal-devices to avoid having to think about and deal with the most frightening contradiction of ideology and soul imaginable for a western oriented, liberal, progressive Jew.  He looks with contempt and hate on the Reggie Peralsons of Israel and she (if she would only admit it) hates the Arab with an even greater passion for being there and forcing her, daily, to wallow in a guilt from which she flees as it turns into a cancer of self-hate.

The irony of ironies is that the greatest ideological and spiritual mental problem facing the secularists of the State of Israel, THE JEWISH STATE, is the “Jewishness” of that state, which must by its very definition, contradict its “Israeliness”  The “Jewishness” of the state both widens its proprietorship and right of title to all Jews, no matter where they live, both in and outside the country, while denying it to the Arabs, the non-Jews, who are nominally citizens of it.

It is forty years; that Biblical two-score years that, again and again, reoccurs as a symbol of sin and punishment.  In this, the fortieth year of its existence, the State of Israel becomes less and less the Jewish State, and more and more a state of confusion, in deep need of a national couch.  The state that was created by the secular founding fathers and mothers of secular political Zionism is far less a Jewish state than a state of schizophrenia, a state hovering on the verge of ideological-mental collapses.  It is ripped by Jewish-Arab struggle; it is torn by Jewish self-hatred.  It has an identity crisis of stupendous magnitude.  If it were an individual, it would certainly be looked upon in psychological circles as a fascinating case study of complexes galore, of schizophrenia of identity that has resulted in no identity, and of terrified flight from reality that is the result of deep and abnormal guilt and self-hate

For those who can and who wish to see beyond the simplistic issues – “occupied territories”, national determination for the “Palestine people”, equality of economic and social conditions for the Arabs of Israel – the real and central and insoluble issue rears its terrible and frightening head, casting an ominous and chilly cloud over the fortieth year of a state called Israel, an issue that sends real fear and terror into the hearts of liberal and western-oriented Jews, an issue that demands to be addressed and met and a choice made Now, before it is too late

Now, before it is horribly late, too late, is the time to reject the thousand-and-one frauds of Jews who invent them so as to enable themselves to flee from the excruciating painful reality of the immutable and inexorable contradiction and ideological war between the basic definition and concept of a Jewish State and its conceptual opponent, western democracy.

Rami Huri and all the Arabs of Acre understand it.  And all the “simple” Beduins of Tuba understand it.  And the Arabs of Nazareth and Haifa and the Galilee and Um al Fham and Taiba and the triangle and the Beduins of Rahat and the Negev.  They all understand the contradiction.  And they all understand the condescension and fraud on the part of the guilt-stricken, guilt-ridden and self-hating Jews, who are compelled to visit them and “love” them and deceive themselves.  How the Arabs love them, the liberal and progressive Jews! How much better off are “our” Arabs than those in Syria and Iraq!  How just a little “good will” will persuade them to accept the Jewish state.  How happy and content will be the natives who live in a Jewish state in which they – the natives – were once the majority before the English came to Kfar Hanasi to rule over them and to patronize them by eating their labane.

If only Reggie the British Jewess knew how the Arabs of Tuba despise her!  But surely even she, deep in her British heart suspects it and is terrified by it and is driven, therefore to visit them and demonstrate her “love” for them.  Of course, they will have none of it.  She is a Jewess and a foreigner who took their land.  That is how the Arabs of Israel see it.  And deep in her complex set of complexes, one fears that so does Reggie, heir of Kipling, but without his ability to accept the lordship without a trace of guilt.

In this fortieth year of a Jewish state that opens its doors freely to Jewish immigrants, and that breathes Jewishness, whose national anthem speaks of the soul of a Jew yearning”, whose Independence Day celebrates Jewish liberation of the country from Arabs, and which was created for the Jewish people – not one Arab feels that it is his state.  But each and every one of them feels that it is his land and all dream of the day when they will change the reality of today.

In this fortieth year of schizophrenia, not one Arab believes the hypocrisy of “equal rights for all its (Israel’s) citizens”, as pledged by the Declaration of Independence, itself a mode of schizophrenia, as it simultaneously proclaims the establishment of a “Jewish State”. In this state of confusion, every Arab knows that Zionism and its offspring, a Jewish state, are incompatible with western democracy that rejects a “Jewish” or any hyphenated state and that demands that Arabs be exactly equal to Jews and that the state be open to all citizens to have control over it.  In this fortieth year of a state called Israel that lies on a national couch, it is clearly the Arabs who are clear-minded, sane, and rational, as they articulate the contradictions of a state, which from birth, was a confused attempt to flee from the truth.

And the Jews?  Or rather say “the Israelis” whose secularism inexorably led them down the path of schizophrenia?  Not one of them does not know in his pain-racked soul, the truth of the contradiction and intellectual antagonism between the Jewish state he proclaims and the western democracy that is so close to his soul.  For decades and until this day, the secular Zionist has suffered from an agonizing malignancy of soul; had lied to himself, deceived himself, deluded himself, fled from himself – in awesome effort to escape having to face the agony of truth, a truth that destroys his very ideological basis, his very reason to live.

The secular Jew – in Israel and without – knows that western democracy and a “Jewish state” are things than can never meet except in deadly battle.  He knows that if he is to preserve a Jewish state for himself and his children he must deny the Arabs equal political rights and, above all, the basic democratic right of being the majority and thus controlling the state. He knows that he has lived a lie; that he lives a lie.  He knows that
time is running out for him – and he must soon make that terrible Hobson’s choice from which he and Ben Gurion and all the schizophrenic dishonest secular Zionists fled, for decades.

And more, in his secular, non-religious bones, he fears that perhaps the Arab, who shouts at him: “You are a thief,” is right.  He, for whom G-d plays no role and who thus, must rest his Zionist case on the fact that Jews “once lived here,” feels his ideological knees buckle and turn to water as he thinks the heresy of “perhaps they are right; perhaps we are indeed thieves…”

And so, the Jewish master of a thousand complexes wanders about, wallowing in self-hate and desperately supporting the Arab right to a state in “Palestine” Anything to let him escape having to face the terrible suspicion that his kibbutz in the Galilee and his home on the Sharon plain, and his Israel within the Green Line are also “Arab” in the eyes of the “Palestinians”.  And so he supports the Arab cause on each and every issue, in the desperate gasping hope that he will thus win a crumb of Arab forgiveness and love that will allow him a brief respite from his guilt over his kibbutz and his villa and his city that is as much “Palestine” as are the “occupied territories”.

The illness is deep and vast; the spiritual and mental and ideological disease, pain and anguish, awesome. The incurable disease or contradiction between a Jewish state and a western democratic one.  The incurable disease of contradiction between a Jewish state and an Israeli one.  The Jewishness of the people and of the state, an unbridgeable barrier to the creation of a “normal” modern one.  THAT IS THE AGONY OF THE SECULAR ISRAELI!

What Will Be? 1977

K A H A N E”
The magazine of the authentic Jewish Idea
May 1977 – Sivan 5737

WHAT WILL BE?
[Written in 1977 and problem still exists today]bg

There is, generally, a gap of three weeks between the writing of this magazine and its publication.  Because of that, when these words are read two events will have already taken place.  The elections for the Knesset will be over and the results already known.  And the effort to have a groundbreaking ceremony for the first Jewish settlement in ancient Shchem since the Exile began, will have been made.

At the moment of writing, however, neither event has taken place and I do not know whether on May 18, after the two events have occurred, I will sit in the Knesset or in an Israeli prison.  What is clear, however, is that the two events are intrinsically bound, one to the other.

The trip to Shchem is part of the drive to – once and for all – establish the principle of Torah law over contradictory secular law, when the latter attempts to prevent Jews from obeying their obligation to the former.  It is part of the drive – once and for all – to do away with the humiliation and desecration of huge parts of the Land of Israel that are nominally under Israeli control, but in fact dominated and arrogantly possessed by Arabs.  It is an effort to stop the Washington plan to force Israel into suicidal concessions and the Israeli preparation to give in to at least a large part of the American demands.  It is part of the hope that a tempest will be planted in the hearts of enough Jews so that they will join the call to the Israeli government: We will not allow you to give up the land and we will refuse to obey orders to retreat if we are soldiers and join a campaign of civil disobedience if we are civilians.

That is why I plan NOT to ask the government for permission to go to Shchem, for no permission is needed for a Jew to go anywhere in his country.  That is why I plan to ignore the order barring me (sic) from the liberated lands that has been issued by the army.  That is why I plan to call upon the troops, if stopped, to refuse to violate Jewish law by barring a Jew from the Land of Israel and to disobey the illegal orders given them.

That is why I do not know where I will be listening to the Knesset election results.  And as to what the people of Israel will do – who can say?  There are many things I might not have said that would have gained me votes.  But doing that would be turning into a politician and making the Knesset more important than the reason for wanting to be in it.  The Knesset, for me, is nothing more than a forum, an opportunity to have my voice heard – and that is vital.  But the voice itself and what it says is even more vital and when one begins to compromise and rationalize that compromise by thinking that the end of entering the Knesset justifies the means of compromising – then there is never an end
to the deceit.  Then one does the same once he is in the Knesset so that he be re-elected or become a cabinet minister.  No, the truth is not a thing you play with.

The truth has been said in this campaign: That the Jewish people is the Chosen people of G-d and that “what will be” depends on their cleaving to the concepts and the mtizvot of Torah; that the fundamental concept is the faith and belief and trust in G-d that is measured in terms of the difficult sacrifices and dangers embodied in such yardsticks as rushing to the aid of a Jew, refusing to violate Torah by giving up sacred Jewish land, refusing to place one’s trust in allies and Washington, leaving the exile with its impurity and prohibition to live there and coming home to the Jewish land, removing the specter of the Arabs who, by their refusal to recognize the Jewish right to Israel, desecrate the name of G-d.

The truth has been said and I have preached and practiced.  That I will sit either in the Knesset or prison is clear.  Which one, what will be – only the Jews of Israel can decide.  By the time you read this they will have decided and you and I will both know.

MAPS

The pressure on Israel to withdraw totally from the liberated lands will mount with every passing week following the elections.  The demand will be that, in return for a spurious and nebulous “peace” Israel accept a fraudulent and non-existent people and state known as “Palestine”.  It is important to know exactly what the map will look like in case such as state should ever come into being next to Israel.

Along the coastal strip, Arab guns and troops will be 22 kilometers (some 15 miles) from Tel Aviv; 15 kilometers (11 miles) from Netanya; 14 kilometers at the narrowest point between Netanya and Herzeliya.  They will naturally be right next to Jerusalem which will return to being the border and will return to 10 kilometers (some 6 miles) from Beersheva and 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Afula.

Not a plane will get up into the air over the costal strip without facing the withering fire of the SAM missiles that Arafat and his people will set up all along the border.  The Israeli cities on the coastal plan (Tel Aviv, Holon, Bat Yam, Ramat Gan, Benei Brak, Givatayim, Petach Tikva, Herzeliya, Netanya) will become prey to ceaseless bombardment in any “war of attrition” begun by the “Palestinians” and their Communist block, Cuban, Asian and African allies they care to invite in as “volunteers.”  One who knows what happened to the Egyptian cities along the Canal during the 1970 War of Attrition knows, too, exactly how Jewish cities may look, G-d forbid, should the front lines be shifted from the Canal, the Golan and the Jordan to the heartland of Israel.

The prohibition against giving up Jewish land will either be obeyed or not.  We will either trust in G-d or in man.  If we prove to be faithless Jews, divine punishment will come in its most natural form.  We will suffer the natural consequences of our actions – the scenario I have described, above.  “Not one inch” is more than a theological point.  It is tragically practical.

So You Shoot The Messenger

Rabbi Meir Kahane's last speech - Warnings to American Jews!
He spoke the truth for all to hear!

“…So You Shoot The Messenger”

[These are Rabbi Meir Kahane’s, may G-d avenge his blood, last words to the Jewish people, whom he devoted his life fighting for, going to prison for, trying to warn them of all the dangers they are facing and will eventually face. Twenty eight years ago, after these words that you will read, he was viciously gunned down byEl Sair Nosair an Arab terrorist in Marriot East Hotel, N.Y.C.] November 5, 1990 – Cheshvan, 18, 5751

Rabbi Meir Kahane’s last speech urging American Jews to make emergency Aliyah (excerpts of speech)

I was born in this country, and I can’t recall ever, in my life, as much open and vicious Jew-hatred as I have seen in our time right now, in this country.  I travel around from city to city, and in every city Jews tell me it is unbearable.  Attacks upon synagogues, attacks upon Jews, all of which are of course buried.  Because the synagogue doesn’t want it to be know.  The ADL wants to report “there were 55 incidents this year in the United States”, when actually, there were 55 incidents in one hour in the United States.  On radio programs which I am on – the telephone calls – open, open (anti-Semitism).

Two Reasons for Increased Anti-Semitism

What has happened?  What has happened in natural terms?  Of course, in divine terms, the Almighty is ending it for us.  But what is happening in natural terms?  Two basic changes have taken place in this country over the last twenty years.  It began slowly, now it is reaching its crescendo.  We have seen the death of what I call the “Auschwitz syndrome”.  What is the “Auschwitz syndrome”?  After World War II, it was hard to be an anti-Semite, even for an anti-Semite.  It was just difficult.  And then the years passed – ten years, twenty years, twenty-five years, thirty years, and a generation arose which was not born at that time.  And the “Auschwitz syndrome” began to fade away, and the guilt began to fade away.  No matter how many Holocaust programs were shown on television, every year they had less and less impact.  Indeed, they reach a point whereby they encourage anti-Semitism, whereupon the anti-Semite says: “ Hey, you know, I know Jews, and the Nazis, and they were probably right.” That’s what happens today.  It fades away.  And to help things along, there was the rise of a strong Israel. Suddenly, Israel was winning.  And that allowed the anti-Semite to cut the albatross.  Now it was OK.  You see, the Jew are Nazis, and they persecute the Palestinians, and now it was OK.  So the “Auschwitz syndrome” faded, and it’s gone for all practical purposes.  And you hear people speak about the holocaust that the Israelis are perpetrating upon the Palestinians. A Holocaust…So all the Israelis and all the Jews who ever called me a Nazi and didn’t realize that when you call a Jew a Nazi, you cheapen the Holocaust.  And you cheapen the concept of Nazi, which is a very unique thing.  And by you calling a second Jew a Nazi, what you are telling the world is” Jews can also be Nazis.  Foolish people and tiny dwarfs and pygmies, grasshoppers.

So the “Auschwitz syndrome” is gone. And another thing has happened.  After World War II, and until perhaps ten years ago, the American people lived in an economic luxury such as we have not seen ever in world history.  No Roman emperor lived as well as the average American did from World War II on, until fairly recently.  Life was good.  And when life is good, the anti-Semite hates Jews quietly.  It’s not a big deal to him.  He hates Jews, but he’s too interested in the Monday night football game.  I myself am amazed that so many people are here tonight that don’t want to see the Giants massacre the Colts…

The Economic Crises

So when times are good and he has his job, he has his beer and he has his TV set, he has everything – he hates Jews, but it’s not that important to him.  But as the economic sands of time begin to run out, and as things get bad and they get worse and suddenly there is a chill, there is a fear.  I can sense a fear in this country – people are afraid of what is going to happen, and they have every right to fear it.  This is a country which is on the verge of economic horror, horror.  In two years they expect the national debt to go from 3.7 trillion to 5 trillion dollars, so they work for months and months – this fiasco between Congress and this administration – and they say, “we are going to cut 500 million dollars in five years”.  Five years!  It is a joke – It’s a drop in the bucket.  This is a country which is dying because the thing that was saving it was the fact that the Japanese are buying Rockefeller Center, Rockefeller Plaza – don’t be angry.  If they stopped buying  it, no one is going to cover the national debt.  And they are stopping.

The dollar is a weak dollar today.  Can you imagine: The Israeli shekel has held its own against the dollar now for a year.  Don’t clap!  It doesn’t mean that the Israeli shekel is strong.  The shekel is weak; the dollar is just as weak.  The Japanese don’t want dollars anymore, they want German marks.  And they’re investing now in South Korea, Thailand, Singapore.  The banks here are shaking, they’re tottering.  In their greed, in the 1960’s and 70’s, they gave loans to anybody.  The Congo came – you want money, take the money.  Mexico came – take 100 million dollars – take, take it, take.  Suddenly, the Congo couldn’t pay back.  If that’s what a banker is…did he expect the Congo to ever pay back in total?  So hundreds of millions of bad loans are being held by major banks:  Chase Manhattan, Citicorp – and they are in deep, deep trouble today.  And on top of that, suddenly the real estate market has collapsed and they are now holding several more hundred million dollars of bad mortgages.  That’s the tragedy.  That’s why suddenly, there’s a hurry talk about Chase merging with City.

There’s a myth that your money is insured for $100,000. If the FDIC had 60 cents for every hundred dollars that you have, I’ll swim back to Israel.  There is a myth that they are going to bail out the Savings & Loan with 40 billion dollars.  If they can make it with less than half a trillion, it will be a miracle.

So for years, the new economists said, “Don’t worry about deficits, it doesn’t matter.  Deficits don’t matter?  I know that when my bank account is in deficit, it matters to me.  The bank calls me up and says, “Rav Kahane, we have a little problem.  Would you like to come and cover it?”  A city can go a little deeper into debt than I can, and a state deeper yet, and a country can go a little deeper yet; but, in the end you have to pay the piper.  So, America has lived beyond its means – extra credit, credit cards – and give anybody credit, give kids credit cards – anybody.  Now it’s time to pay the piper, there is no money, there is no money.  And should the economic collapse come it is the Jew who will be blamed.  It is the Jew.  You can hear it already. You can small it in the air.

The Racial tension – In all Colors

I was on a radio program in Chicago.  Every single caller blamed the Gulf oil crisis on the Jews.  Every single call.  What you have now is the getting together of all these crises – the economic crisis, the racial crisis – and there is a serious racial crisis in the country.  It’s a serious one.  It is a dangerous one. Whites hate Blacks and Blacks hate Whites and they both hate Jews.  It is a terrible, terrible thing.  It’s not just Whites and Blacks.  Now in the West, it’s the Hispanics and the Anglos – tremendous crises, which only proves all the more the myth of the melting pot. Uh nechtiga tag –what melting pot? A melting pot is fine until there is a terrible crisis and then two “objects’ occupy the same job at the same time.  That’s a law of physics, which I’ve changed a bit…

So it’s not an accident that Jesse Helms is now putting on TV ads talking about the unfairness of quotas.  Quotas are unfair.  Of course, that is his trump card.  People are angry about quotas and affirmative action, etc.  And Blacks are angry.  You think that Blacks have no argument?  You think they are all bad? – that everything the Blacks do is wrong?  You think that Bob Grant is your kind of guy?  G-d forbid!  This Jew-hating fascist type.  That he says something good many, many times –you’re right.  You think that bad people don’t often say correct things?  Of course they do – but watch him, watch him and be careful of such people!  People who are anti-Black will always be anti-Jewish too.  One doesn’t have to love Farrakhan or Jesse Jackson to realize that he should be careful of racism of all kinds – White and Black – be careful, because we get stuck in the middle.  Because the Whites and Blacks hate us both.

The Pre-War Depression: Not a Criteria

We have a serious problem – the economic crisis cannot be averted. There is no way.  This country is in for terrible, terrible times.  People tell me in the depression it was also bad.  It’s true.  But first of all, who knows what would have happened in this country if World War II had not ended the depression?  If you think that Roosevelt ended it, you don’t know history.  World War II ended it.  It gave jobs finally, but more to the point, it was a different era back then.  The American people at that time were a much stronger people in character.  Today, after 40-50 years of good life and soft life, and the materialistic life, people are into themselves.  Unbelievable ego. Everything is me, me – my life, my body, my-me, my-mine.  People are incapable today of making sacrifices and that’s the great, great difference between today and what happened in the depression.  The person who is fairly poor and gets poorer – not so terrible. The person who has it and lost it becomes a wild animal, a raging animal. He’ll not accept it and will look for a scapegoat.  He’ll look for some target to blame.  We Jews are the most visible, the most highly visible in terms of power, in terms of money.  Of course, Wasps have more money than Jews have.  Certainly, Jews are not into U.S. Steel and banking and so on, and the real, real money is not Jewish money, but that doesn’t matter because Jews are in those professions that are most visible.

How to Gauge anti-Semitism: Go to a Bar

So in the bars, it sits the jealousy and the envy of the Jews which leads to hate.  The tragedy as I’ve said a million times is that the average Jewish leader in this country has no idea what people say ago about Jews in bars, because the average Jew doesn’t go into a bar – and he should; he should be compelled to go into a bar.  Every rabbi before getting “smicha”, before being ordained, should be compelled to go into a bar and find out what the real world is like. It isn’t a joke.  I’m serious.  To hide in some little ghetto, you never know what the world is.  They hate us with a passion out there, with a virulence which is frightening to see and to hear.  On every radio program I go on, I hear, “why should we give you guys three billion dollars a year”?  Anytime some fellow from the Israeli consulate is asked that question, he comes up with the answer, “well, we help you too, etc.”  Baloney!  The only way to get rid of that question is to answer as I do, “I don’t want the money!  I want Israel to be a free enterprise state and allow private enterprise to flourish and then we don’t want your money, I don’t want your charity.”  So, that of course gets rid of the question, but it doesn’t get rid of the anti-Semite.  He’ll go home mutter in his beer and pretzels. He’s still there.  He’s still there.

Role of the Prophet – To See It and say It

The rabbis tell us that G-d told Moses and Aaron.  “I’ll make you Jewish leaders on one condition that if they throw stones at you, you’ll accept it.”  Rather to be pelted with stones and not with dollars.  That’s what a Jewish leader has to be!  Say the bitter truth, even though they won’t like you.  They won’t like you; they’ll attack you, but tell the Jews the truth if you love them.  If you love Jews, tell them the things which will make them angry, but which can save their lives.  That’s what you have to do!  Think carefully about what I’m saying, and that is why we created this group called ZEERO, Zionist Emergency Evacuation Rescue Organization.  It’s a name that provokes.  And we hope that as we spread this idea it will provoke Jewish leaders to attack so we can debate the controversy that arises.  People will say he’s right; he’s wrong, and so on.  Of course, this is probably the worst thing you can ever tell any Jewish leader, any Federation leader – that he should leave here, and go to Israel.  What’ill do there? .

The rabbis say: “Who is wise?  He who sees the future”.  It’s no big deal to see “today.”  A Jewish leader has to see tomorrow.

Living in Israel – Difficult; Living Elsewhere – Impossible

It is coming here!  It is coming here!  Friday night I spoke in Brooklyn in shul, and I had to walk through Bensonhurst, a white neighborhood – nice people, because they’re white…Watching the people, the kids, you can smell the violence, you can see the hate, you can see the envy – frustrated, bored, looking for action.  You can see it.  Those are the potential mobs.  And G-d forbid, we will see it.  So ZEERO is a very serious project of Kach, and I mean a serious one.  And I know how hard it is to go to Israel – it is really hard.  Hard to make a living.  My son goes into the army every single year.  It’s dangerous and so on.  All of it is true.  Everything that’s all true.  That’s all true.  It’s hard to live in Israel, but it will be impossible to live here, and if we go to Israel, at least there we can change the country.  Of course we can change it and make it better and make it tremendous and make it safe.  Of curse we can do that if we have the power in the government, but here there is nothing you can do to change it, it’s out of our hands.  We are a minority and we are strangers here.  We’re stranger in this land, no matter how many years we’ve been here.

It’s not an accident that so few German Jews survived the camps.  The Polish Jew did better.  Why?  Because the Polish Jew wasn’t surprised.  It didn’t shock him that gentiles could behave like this.  It didn’t surprise him, so he wasn’t shattered inside, he wasn’t’ broken.  But the German Jew was psychologically shattered.  How could this be?  I’m a German. I’m a German.  How could it be?  How can you do this to me?  The Pole knew he was a Jew.  The German was broken because his whole illusion was shattered.  And that’s how the American Jew lives.  “I’m an American”.  It’s the gentile who will teach you so quickly that you’re a Jew.

It’s no just in the bars, in the working class bars the anti-Semitism that you see.  When you see the news media and their attitude towards Israel; it’s not anti-Israel – it’s anti-Semitism.  Do you know why they hate Jews?  Because among intellectuals there is a jealousy of Jews.  When Truman Capote, the famous author, a sickness, a disease who represents all that is sick about Western culture – when he spoke about the publishing business being a Jewish mafia – you can see the jealousy.  [He writes] how Jews are over represented in publishing, in broadcast, in movies, etc.  Of course it’s so – they have talent.  Untalented people don’t like to think it is because of talent.  They like to think they run it because their friends, their uncles, their aunts and so on and so forth.  The hate runs across the board.  You can see Peter Jennings’ anti-Semitism.  You can see it!  And when I hold press conferences in Israel and I see them sitting around, you can watch them all – the hatred.
